2-13-24, Opportunity Knocking!

Have you missed Jordan Essential products being in the studio? Me, too!  But they are back! I recently used up my last bottle of Peppermint Magnesium lotion and I knew I needed to get more soon (since I started using this lotion daily, my leg and foot cramps completely disappeared- no joke!). Before I re-ordered, I did a little research comparing Bath and Body Works products and Jordan Essentials. The shea butter hand and body cream from Bath and Body Works and the shea butter hand and body cream from Jordan Essentials.

Here is the breakdown:

Bath and Body : 1 oz. 8.95

Jordan Essentials: 2 oz. 15.00 (1 oz. 7.50)

Jordan Essentials is .50 less

Okay, so that isn't really that much less, but keep reading. That's just the cost. Let’s talk about the product ingredients.

Here are the labels on the back of each:

Jordan Essentials products have none of the following:

Parabens

Talc

Aluminum

Gluten

Mineral Oil

Animal Testing

Plus, they are:

*scented with pure essential oils, not overpowering fragrance

*made in Missouri in artisan fresh batches

*shipped in eco-conscious packaging-cardboard boxes filled with either shredded paper or biodegradable peanuts (they actually melt completely in water).

These products are aligned with the lifestyle that I try to live and try to encourage others to live, which is why I re-joined as a consultant rather than just re-ordered from my consultant.

Let's go back to the above example. Consultants earn at least 25% back, which, in this case, would be 1.88, so total cost for the above product would end up being 2.38 less than the Bath and Body product, which is a bit more significant! This is a tiny amount to compare, I know, but when you have a bulk order, 25% adds up! And, yes, they will mail you a check (or direct deposit)!

If you know me well, you know I am not the salesperson type (it makes me super uncomfortable). But this time, it seems silly and unfair not to share the opportunity that these products and this company have to offer. Google the company (so this post doesn't get even longer!) and you'll discover some pretty cool stories!

So... if you are looking for another stream of income, consider joining as a consultant. You can sell as little or as much as you want, as long as you hit the $200 mark each year and you are willing to have a Jordan Essentials website open for orders. I signed up mainly because I was buying the products already, so it was a way for me to get them at a reduced price. At this point, though, I’d like another stream of income as I head towards retirement and this just feels right to me. Let me know if you are interested. The photo below shows the kit you will receive when you join for just $24. It really is such a good deal! (They also have a $49 kit and a $99 kit that are also great deals, if you would like more products to try or sell).

On My Way to White, 7.5.23

6 Months ago, I missed my monthly hair appointment. By the time I finally got an appointment, I was intrigued by the color of my roots. It looked as if my hair would be almost completely white, without the color. I always assumed it would be a drab, gray color, so I couldn't even imagine letting it go until I was much older. But my mom has, and my grandma had, beautiful, pure white hair and once I saw that might be what I've been genetically gifted, I had second thoughts about waiting. It helped a lot to have an awesome hairdresser who is especially good with color. She gave me a clear vision of how I could transition gracefully, from brown to white and began her creative pursuit with my hair at that first appointment, with the assurance that I could always go back to brown at any time. So, just more highlights for appointment one, even more highlights for appointment two and three (I was pretty much blonde at that point), strategically placed highlights and toner for appointment four, appointment five was totally skipped and I'll go in next week for her final, strategic touches. Since my hair is short, it didn't take nearly as long as I thought.

I have to say, I never thought I would be this happy with it. My hair has never felt healthier than it feels right now and it is honestly the most liberating feeling knowing that I don't have to spend the money and time on my hair every month and that I don't have to worry about my roots showing. Basically, it just feels more authentically ME. This is who I am. This is me, aging. This is me, with nothing to hide. Wow! Right?!

Anyway, I hope my story and photos help someone else out there who is attempting the same thing. I googled and found so many blog posts from women who have already gone through this process and it helped me SO much.

Last Fall, before deciding to ditch the
haircolor.

A few more highlights, in February.

And... a few more highlights.

Even more highlights. I felt like a blonde at
this point.

Even more highlights and toner.

Skipped appointment here, but more white
 coming in strong.

These last two photos were taken yesterday, in front
of a window with lots of natural light
pouring through.

And there you have it! I actually think it looks more like a platinum blonde at this point, but the blonde ends are so close in value to the white that it's hard to tell. I may keep a beige toner on it every few months to keep it from looking drab, but that's all. Growing it a little longer has also helped because, although I'm losing the brown of my youth, I get healthier hair and more styling options.

I know this post has nothing to do with yoga, reiki or art, but it has everything to do with self-care and self-esteem. If you are on this journey, I hope this helps you! It's a hard decision, but man is it worth it!

Until next time,

Tattoos, 7.18.22

Well, apparently yesterday was National Tattoo Day. It seems as though ever single day is a National Something Or Other, but I thought I’d use this particular one to share my tattoos. I have five of them, all received after the age of fifty. The first one to celebrate my fifties. (I planned to get only one, but you know how that goes!)

I know everyone has varying opinions about the subject- they are cliche’ and trendy vs. they have been a form of self-expression for centuries, they are an art form vs. they look “low class”, they are beautiful vs. they look trashy. You get the idea! I hid mine from my parents (especially my dad!) for quite a while. But, it’s pretty obvious which camp I’m in. I’m past the age of having to interview for jobs or fit into a certain “look”. More importantly, I’m past the point in my life where I care what other people think. I think tattoos are fun! All of mine were very intentional and all of them hold a special meaning for me and, when I look at them, I’m reminded of all of those things.

Here’s each story:

Tattoo #1) three messages, from my three kids, in their handwriting

#2) my message to them each time I would drop them off at school, with grandparents, at friends’ homes.

#3) message from my husband in his handwriting, along with a lotus flower which stands for rising up and blooming through hard times. A reminder that I could make it through an extremely hard and trying time in my life. (P.S. I did!!)

#4) a wreath with vines and the birth flowers of my three children with their names hidden in the stems. I got this one on my “birth” day- February 15- my middle child’s birthday. It had come to a point where people didn’t realize I had more than two children. So this was a gift to myself because when you birth a child into this world and raise them well into adulthood, you kinda want people to know they exist. So, I’m announcing: I have three children- Chelsi Kay Schuster Woehlke, Jamey Dale Schuster and Colbey Ray Schuster. They are my world and beyond.

#5) a beautiful door, which stands for welcoming, chosen and designed by one of my favorite former students, who is now a tattoo artist. When she sent the idea to me, there was no doubt that I would be getting another tattoo. This one is right side up to other people with my arm down and right side up to me when my arm is bent, so I can still see it . I will never get a tattoo that I can’t see. Anyway, I love everything about it! Thank you, Hilary Pacanowski!

So, no more hiding (sorry, Dad!), I’m letting this art work shine!

Have a great day! Juli

Spaces, 7.15.22

Just some shots of the studio. If you choose to spend time here, I hope you know that it’s a safe, welcoming, calming place to be. So much good energy gathers here. It’s a sacred space to me and I hope it is for you, too.
